Biology ties in well with learning about Ecological Footprints because the effect of a Footprint also effects the environment, and therefore biological systems.

Objectives:

Biology 20:

UNIT 2: Ecological Organization:

1.3, 1.4, 1.7-1.10 - Explain how the interactions among the soil, climate, and living organisms produce the ecosystems which can be observed.
2.1-2.12 - Analyze a variety of ecosystems
3.3 - Describe life in past ecosystems

Activities:

Here is a blog with many Biology lessons and experiments. The Environmental Science one can be related to the effect of Ecological Footprints. She did a lesson where her students completed the Footprint calculator and they discussed ways they could reduce their footprint.

This lesson can be adapted for grades 9-12. It focuses on Sustainability and incorporates the Ecological Footprint.

While this website contains information and resources for essentially all aspects of Biology, it does contain a section specifically for Ecological Footprints and resources that could be used in the classroom to facilitate teaching and learning about this broad topic.
